Lauren and Matt’s day was a perfect blend of fun and elegance. Lauren began getting ready at her childhood home in Wellesley with her parents and best friends. Their home was incredibly immaculate and beautiful, setting the stage for the rest of the day. Meanwhile Matt got ready at the Brae Burn Country Club in Newton where they gentlemen enjoyed their time in the clubhouse on on the golf course.

They came together at Elm Bank for their ceremony. Since Lauren grew up in Wellesley, she had played soccer on the nearby fields and knew the gardens well so it made sense to pick a venue that felt like home. Their ceremony took place at the Italianate garden by the fountain surrounded by their families and loved ones. Afterwards, they strolled to nearby Weezie’s garden for the cocktail hour. Lauren planned a special surprise for Matt and had a bag piper lead the way back to the Carriage House for all the guests. Matt has Scottish roots and this particular bag piper was all decked out in traditional attire- he even played for the Queen of England.

Their reception took place inside the Carriage House with dancing inside the tent. Everyone had a fabulous time enjoying the live band and dancing the night away. Congrats to Lauren and Matt for putting together such a wonderful celebration!

HOW HE PROPOSED

Lauren and Matt met at Boston college on the very first day of classes. Matt went to high school with Lauren’s Freshman year roommate and they because fast friends, dating a few years later. For the proposal, Matt planned a romantic weekend in Newport, RI which Lauren thought was to celebrate her birthday. Instead, he proposed at the lighthouse at Castle Hill Inn and they celebrated all weekend. He also planned a party for their closest family and friends in his parent’s backyard in Bedford, NH a few days later.

PLANNING TIPS

Lauren + Matt decided to take their time with wedding planning because of the pandemic so they were able to incorporate many elements of Boston into different aspects of their day. They decided to ditch the wedding cake tradition in favor of Boston’s famous Mike’s Pastry cannoli’s instead. They also wrote hand written notes to each of their guests as escort cards to make sure they all knew how grateful they were than they could celebrate with them. Lauren even designed a 6x8’ moss wall as a backdrop to their photo booth!
